The leaders participating in the Brdo-Brijuni initiative will meet on May 17 in Brdo Castle near Kranj, the Slovenian president's office told N1.
The participation in this year's meeting was confirmed by three members of Bosnia's Presidency Milorad Dodik, Sefik Dzaferovic, and Zeljko Komsic, as well as presidents of Croatia Zoran Milanovic, Albania Ilir Meta, Montenegro Milo Djukanovic, Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski and Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.
The meeting planned for 2020 was called off due to the epidemiological situation.
“Besides marking its tenth anniversary, the meeting of leaders within the Brdo-Brijuni initiative will be an opportunity to confirm and strengthen the commitment to continue the European Union enlargement process. The leaders will also have a chance to exchange opinions on other current issues in an informal atmosphere,” the president's office said.
The initiative was officially launched in 2013 but similar meetings were held in 2010 and 2011 at the prime-ministerial level. The summits annually gather the Western Balkan leaders, with the main focus on the enlargement of the European Union to the countries of this region.
