The Zenica miners did not go down to the "Raspotocje" pit Tuesday morning, due to the delay in the payment of their January salary and hot meal allowance. They stopped coal production on March 6, the head of the "Raspotocje" plant union, Nedzad Durakovic confirmed, adding that everyone seems to be ignoring their demands.

“Everyone obviously decided to ignore the fact that we didn't get paid and that's why we're not working. We have no other explanation because we don’t have any information from the management. Our management does not have the capacity to solve our problem, and Elektroprivreda BiH, as in all other mines from the Concern, is the owner of the entire capital,” Durakovic said.

He pointed out that until the cessation of work and the beginning of labour disobedience – which took place on Wednesday in the first shift, they showed good will and worked even after the deadline for the payment of wages.

“According to the paid provisions of the collective agreement, no more than 30 days may pass between two paid salaries, and according to the provisions of the Labor Agreement, the final date for payments of the previous month’s salary is the 25th of the current month. In the past, wages were paid until the 15th of the month, in our mine,” Durakovic told Fena news agency.

A little more than 600 Zenica miners were last paid their salary and hot meal allowance for December last year, which was paid to them on January 24.
