Nijaz Cardaklija, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Iran, spoke to N1 from Tehran and provided the latest information about events in the city after Israel launched attacks on certain areas.

Cardaklija said it all happened in an area where the employees of the BiH embassy usually move about.

“Today around 2 o’clock, a missile fell on an avenue that runs in a north-south direction. I heard it whistling through the air, and I heard the impact. The truth is, the ground shook a little. When my colleague and I go to meetings and return, we travel that route by car. Luckily, today there were no major consequences. I see in the media that there are government buildings in that area that might be of interest to Israel—and maybe we don’t even know that it’s a department of some ministry,” Cardaklija told N1.

He also told N1 that he held a briefing with Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. According to Cardaklija, Araghchi said that Iran has not abandoned diplomatic negotiations.

“The sixth round of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program was scheduled for today in Oman. Iran had prepared its own proposal, and the foreign minister complained that the previous five rounds had consisted solely of discussions about American proposals. Iran prepared its own draft, and he was ready to go there. However, Israel’s attacks prevented that and made it impossible to continue the negotiations. Interestingly, as far as we know, the United States was aware of Israel’s strikes—so if you knew the strikes were going to happen on Friday, why did you schedule the meeting for Sunday? That’s irrational, unclear—unless Israel has its own agenda that the U.S. is not aware of and is acting independently,” Cardaklija said to N1.

At the end of the conversation, he added that although air traffic has been suspended, it is still possible to leave the Tehran area if there is any concern for safety at any time.
