The commemoration in Mostar included a memorial service at the Old Church of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God, the lighting of candles, and the symbolic throwing of roses from the bridge into the Buna River, in remembrance of those who perished. This act symbolized the suffering of Serbs from this region.

"By symbolically throwing flowers into the river and lighting candles, we will restore the memory of the victims and the day when the Orthodox Church in Mostar was set on fire," stated the Organization for the Fallen and Missing.

The commemoration program continued with the laying of flowers at the Freedom Monument in Nevesinje, followed by a visit to the memorial room, the laying of flowers at the Memorial Ossuary in Nevesinje, and addresses by officials.
