Of the 20 people infected with measles in the Serb-dominated part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, only one child was vaccinated against the disease, authorities in Republika Srpska said.
The contracted group consists of children between two and ten and adults between 20 and 29 and most of them, 16, are hospitalized.
A measles epidemic was declared in the northern Bosnian municipalities of Vukosavlje and Modrica, as well as in Istocno Sarajevo. According to the Public Health Institute of Republika Srpska, those who contracted the disease were in contact with victims in neighbouring Serbia and Montenegro. Serbia has declared a measles epidemic.
Republika Srpska authorities have taken measures to contain the disease.
