Police search migrants, find knives, scalpels and hammers

The Una-Sana Canton police conducted a search of 4 facilities accommodating migrants on the territory of Velika Kladusa, Northern Bosnia, and found several hammers, pocket knives, scalpels, kitchen knives as well as two packets of cannabis.

The police spokesperson Adnan Beganovic told SRNA news agency the police searched some 560 persons, stressing that all migrants acted in accordance with the police orders.

Beganovic pointed out that the district public Prosecutor’s Office of the Una-Sana Canton was informed about the operation, and the consent was obtained from the Municipal Court of Velika Kladusa.

The aim of the operation the seizure of illicit means, such as various types of narcotics and weapons that can serve for the commission of criminal offences.

Bosnia’s Security Minister Dragan Mektic said earlier that some 6,500 migrants entered the country since the beginning of 2018 but 4,000 of them have already left the country. Most of the migrants are concentrated in the cities of Sarajevo, Bihac and Velika Kladisa, situated at the very border with Croatia. Their ultimate destination are the Western European countries.
