The Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Party Caucus said they would initiate a procedure to dismiss Bosnia’s Security Minister Dragan Mektic over his handling of the migrant crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Head of the SNSD's Caucus in the Bosnian Parliament Stasa Kosarac said that the Democratic People’s Alliance (DNS) Party Caucus will join this initiative which should be discussed during the state Parliament session scheduled for September 4.
In the meantime, members of the Operative Staff for migrant issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina held a meeting in Sarajevo, Thursday, at which they discussed activities for combating illegal migration and accommodation of migrants who are already in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Mektic who chaired the meeting familiarized the members with activities concerning the accommodation of migrants located in the territory of the Una-Sana Canton, Northern Bosnia, stressing that families and vulnerable categories of migrants will be moved to the “Sedra” Hotel near Cazin, and the rest will be moved to the asylum centre in Trnovo, Near Sarajevo.
He also notified the Staff members of the agreement with the Bosanski PetrovacMunicipality who agreed that a transit centre will be built in the Lipe area, on the territory of Bosanski Petrovac, North-East Bosnia. Until this centre is built, all the migrants from Velika Kladusa, a Northern-most town at the border with Croatia, will be temporarily accommodated in the facilities of Agrokomerc company.
Mektic stressed that the town of Bihac will thus be completely relieved of the burden of taking care of migrants, for which this town and the Una-Sana Canton have no means.
