New infrastructure projects are soon to start in Sarajevo, and a highway-like road running through the city is one of the most important ones, Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Adem Zolj, told N1 on Friday.
The road is to connect Sarajevo’s centre with the nearby town of Vogosca and connect to Bosnia’s part of the pan-European 5C corridor, which is still being built.
Some legal property issues still need to be solved for the project to begin, Zolj said, estimating that this will be done by the end of the year.
“That is up to the Sarajevo Construction Institute. We have already secured 25 million BAM (about EUR 12,7 million) for the construction”
“We will also sign an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) which will give us 35 million Euro for reconstruction of the reconstruction of tramway tracks and the purchase of new trams and trolleybuses,” he said.
The timeframe for the constructions will be three years, Zolj said.
