The Republika Srpska entity police filed 23 reports against 28 persons on the suspicion of smuggling migrants. From the beginning of 2018, they discovered 2,852 mostly undocumented migrants who entered Bosnia illegally.
"More than half of the migrants were found in the Bijeljina region, north-eastern Bosnia, and a significant number of them were found in the Zvornik area, eastern Bosnia," said the Coordination body for the monitoring of migrants in this Serb-dominated, semi-autonomous entity.
Participants of the meeting chaired by RS Police Director concluded that the RS police is ready to place more of its police officers at the disposal of Bosnia’s Border Police should they express the need for more units in preventing illegal migration.
There are currently 78 RS police officers serving with the state Border Police.
