Massoel Shipping: contact with ship's hostages made

Massoel Shipping, Managers of Bulk carrier MV Glarus, attacked by pirates off Bonny Island in Nigeria, on September 22, told N1 that contact has now been made with those holding 12 crew members hostage.

They said that from what they could gather, all crew are together and all are well and unharmed.  

“The ship MV Glarus is now safely alongside at Port Harcourt with the remaining seven crew members on board,” they told N1. “Families of the crew members are being kept in close touch with developments and the first and absolute priority is the safe release of the hostages.”

Massoel Shipping said they will not be making any further comments on operational issues as this could prejudice the safety of those being held.
