Dozens of migrants were discovered in October in Bosnia's south-western Livno canton and were all transported to the migrant centres near Sarajevo and Mostar, according to the cantonal interior ministry.

A spokesperson for the Cantonal Ministry of Interior, Ivica Vrdoljak, said the largest number of migrants, 21 of them, were reported in the central town of Livno, 18 in Tomislavgrad, 16 in Bosansko Grahovo and seven in Drvar.

According to Vrdoljak, the police also recorded several physical clashes and thefts involving the migrants.

“A fight between the migrants was recorded as well as a theft of two mobile phones. One phone was stolen in a shopping mall,” Vrdoljak said.

The migrants also broke into a building who were searching for a shelter to spend a night, the spokesperson said.

Over 20,000 illegal migrants entered Bosnia since the beginning of the year, Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac said during her recent visit to the north-western Bosnian region, Una-Sana Canton.

Although most of them express intention to seek the asylum, as a part of regular procedure upon entering the country, a very few have done so. Their final goal is reaching the European Union, which they try using illegal routes on the Bosnia-Croatia border.
