US Embassy condemns physical clash in Republika Srpska parliament
Violence and threats have no place in democratic debate, the US Embassy in Sarajevo said following the fierce discussion on a NATO document in the parliament of Bosnia's Serb-majority entity Republika Srpska (RS) on Monday, which resulted in a physical clash.

“This is not the way to resolve differences in opinion. We strongly condemn physical attacks and urge the necessity of professional, civilized dialogue,” the Embassy tweeted.

RS Interior Minister Dragan Lukac slapped Drasko Stanivukovic, the opposition MP, during a discussion on a document that Bosnia's state authorities sent to NATO on Monday.

Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency sent the ‘Reform Programme’ to the alliance which, according to Bosnian Serb opposition MPs, paved the way for the country’s NATO membership.
They accused the Serb member of the Presidency, Milorad Dodik, as well as his Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), of betraying Serb interests.
