The Zvornik General Hospital's director, two doctors, six nurses and two non-medical workers are all infected with the new coronavirus, the hospital said on Wednesday adding that they all got infected while performing their regular duties at work.

“All the infected came into contact with the virus while performing their regular duties and providing medical help to patients, while the director had probably infected inside the family cluster,” the hospital said in a statement.

The statement adds that all the risky contacts have been placed under supervision in cooperation with the hygienic-epidemiological service of this east Bosnian town's health centre.

Despite the great pressure caused by the larger influx of patients with coronavirus, the Zvornik General Hospital is successful at organizing the work of all its services in a way that staff is organized into teams, which change periodically as to reduce contact among employees.
The hospital adds that they have enough staff and that their work will not be jeopardised.

“Our staff regularly wears the personal protective equipment which we also have in ample supply,” the statement from the hospital noted.

The hospital asked the residents from the surrounding areas to behave responsibly and respect the prescribed protection measures, thus providing the much-needed help to the employees of this health institution, which bears the greatest burden in the fight against the new coronavirus.
