Journalist, diplomat and foreign policy analyst Hajrudin Somun analyzed the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas for N1 and pointed out that there are similarities between the genocide in Srebrenica and the developments in Gaza.
“This is a humanitarian disaster, Gaza needs help. The Palestinians need a state, not humanitarian aid. In the last 75 years, they survived many disasters and they have been relying on humanitarian aid“, Somun said.
“Israel is keeping the whole of Gaza under siege“, he added and compared this conflict to the war in BiH.
“This war reminds me of the war in BiH. Before the genocide in Srebrenica, a convoy of humanitarian aid left for Srebrenica, and (Radovan) Karadzic ordered women from the surrounding villages to come out and block the road, which they did. These scenes remind me of that”, he said.
