The Association "Survivors of the July 11, 1995 Genocide" has issued a strong condemnation following the placement of crosses in the Bosniak cemetery in Kragljivoda, describing the act as a grave violation of the dignity of genocide victims and their families.

“This is not only a profound disrespect for the deceased but also an aggravation of the painful wounds that the community has endured for decades. Let us remind the public that genocide against the Bosniaks of Srebrenica was committed in this area, a fact confirmed by the international court. The placement of crosses in the cemetery of genocide victims is seen as a provocation, incitement of hatred, and an attempt to destabilize peace in Srebrenica,” the statement reads.

The association has called on relevant authorities to swiftly remove the crosses from the cemetery and hold those responsible accountable. They specifically demand an investigation into the actions of the priest who led the event and the police officers who were present but failed to prevent the desecration of the cemetery.

The group has also appealed to the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina to take appropriate measures and sanction all individuals responsible for disturbing the peace and dignity of the victims, including law enforcement officers.

Furthermore, they urge the authorities in Srebrenica to implement measures that would prevent similar incidents in the future. They emphasize that such actions humiliate Bosniak victims and deepen ethnic divisions within society.

“We call on the international community to insist on and support decisive actions to protect the dignity of all genocide victims and their families. We also call on all citizens to preserve peace and dignity,” the association concluded in its statement.
