BiH Presidency Chair Denis Becirovic spoke with the Dutch Senate speaker Jan Anthonie Bruijn and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Netherlands Martin Bosma, during his official visit to the country.
The Speakers of both houses of the Parliament expressed the importance of remembering the victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica. The genocide in Srebrenica is a dark chapter of humanity and that is why July 11 must be remembered around the world. They also emphasized that the Netherlands continues to strongly support the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Becirovic expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of cooperation between the Netherlands and BiH, including intensified high-level visits. He thanked for the adoption of the Parliamentary resolution, which opened the possibility for the Netherlands to support the European Council's decision to open negotiations with Bosnia. He expressed hope that the Dutch Parliament will continue to support the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period, his Office announced.
The Senate speaker, Jan Anthonie Bruijn, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament, Martin Bosma, emphasized the need to intensify reform processes in priority areas for BiH.
Becirovic thanked the Netherlands for its involvement in helping the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica and for its strong support for the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica in the United Nations General Assembly. In this context, he particularly emphasized the need for the continuous dissemination of truth and justice and dealing with the past in BiH, which includes the process of reconciliation, trials for war crimes and preserving the memory of the victims.
