The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved 1,000,000 Bosnian Marks (BAM) from budget reserves to assist Turkey in remediating the damage caused by the devastating earthquake which hit the southeast of that country early Monday morning.
The decision was passed at an extraordinary telephone session and enters into force immediately.
Both of BiH’s two semi-autonomous entities have previously sent rescue teams to help efforts in affected areas in Turkey.
The total death toll from the devastating earthquake has surpassed 11,000 and is expected to continue rising.
The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministersa, Borjana Kristo, also met with Turkey’s Ambassador, Sadik Babur Girgin. According to a statement from the office, she told him that the people of Turkey can count on the support of all levels of government in BiH.
Meanwhile, Denis Becirovic, one of the members of BiH’s tripartite Presidency, signed the Book of Condolences at the Turkish Embassy in Sarajevo.
