Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic addressed today an open letter to Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic.
Konakovic asserted that Dacic cannot speak about cooperation with police structures while Serbia harbors numerous war criminals.
“Regarding your public statements about the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on police cooperation, and how it is normal for police structures to cooperate across the region, Minister Dacic, you cannot speak about this while your police structures and judiciary hide dozens of war criminals wanted by our country, with Interpol warrants issued for them.
As long as you protect the murderer of Tuzla’s youth, war criminal Novak Djukic, you cannot lecture anyone on morality. As long as your children in Novi Sad are treated by Dr. Death, Dusko Kornjaca, wanted by our judiciary for the worst crimes in Cajnice, it is hypocritical to talk about normal cooperation. Extradite Ecim, Savcic, and dozens of other criminals who spread death across Bosnia and Herzegovina, and only then can we discuss ‘normal cooperation,'” Konakovic stated.
He also mentioned the case of students who glorified war criminals.
“Two students who glorified war criminals in our country and wrote ‘we didn’t kill enough of you’ were rewarded with scholarships by your security system led by Vulin and now proudly walk around Belgrade. That might be ‘normal’ to you, but it is not to me, and I will not accept it. I do not trust your good intentions or those of President Vucic, who tried to stop the adoption of the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica with a dirty campaign full of lies, which, thank God, failed. We are neighbors, dependent on each other, and must cooperate for the sake of our citizens, but I will not pretend to enjoy it or look forward to it, even out of diplomatic courtesy, as long as you behave as mentioned.
I believe that the agreement is harmful to our country as long as your police officers can freely operate in our country in cooperation with entity and cantonal agencies, the same police that protect war criminals and ban our actors and singers from entering Serbia. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a democratic country, and we will use all available procedures and tools to improve this harmful agreement for us,” Konakovic added.
He questioned why Komsic and Izetbegovic allowed joint teams with entity and cantonal police without state approval.
“Why Komsic and Izetbegovic allowed you to form joint teams with entity and cantonal police without the consent of state authorities is beyond me. Their superficiality, amateurism, or some interest, they know, and maybe you too as a participant in the process. Why they allowed you to send undercover investigators to Bosnia and Herzegovina with jurisdiction over the entire state is unclear to me.
I have proven on countless occasions that I am a person of cooperation and that I do not hate anyone. I came to your country with an outstretched hand, wanting to improve relations for the benefit of our citizens and the entire Western Balkan region. I have met with you several times at various forums and had correct and open conversations.
Extradite Djukic, Kornjaca, Ecim, Savcic, and other criminals or imprison them where they belong, respect the victims of genocide and international law, educate students, a new generation in Serbia, not to glorify war criminals. This is a concrete step towards normalizing relations. Give moral lectures to each other; leave us in Bosnia and Herzegovina out of it,” Konakovic concluded.
