Christian Schmidt's stay in Bosnia is questionable because his appointment was not confirmed by the resolution of the UN Security Council, which deluded the BiH institutions and Article 124 of the Law on Aliens was misused, said the Director of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zarko Laketa.
Laketa stated that this article of the Law on Aliens stipulates that the provisions of the aforementioned Law do not apply to persons enjoying diplomatic status in BiH under international law, that is, on the basis of an international treaty.
Laketa recalled that Bosnia’s Security Minister Nenad Nesic called on all institutions in the country to review the method of obtaining the residence of the High Representative Christian Schmidt.
“I think that now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is on the move, which applies the Article 124 of the Law on Aliens when it comes to diplomats, which is not the case in this case,” Laketa noted.
