Bosnia and Turkey aim to boost healthcare links and technological ties

Both sides confirmed a mutual interest in expanding bilateral health ties, emphasizing the need to make better use of existing institutional frameworks and foster direct connections between healthcare professionals and institutions in both countries.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country is particularly focused on professional development for doctors and medical staff, specialist exchange programmes, hospital-to-hospital partnerships, and acquiring expertise in advanced diagnostic and treatment methods.

In this context, Turkey’s progress in digital health solutions, artificial intelligence, genomic medicine, and other cutting-edge medical technologies was highlighted as a key area for collaboration.

Bosnjak underscored the role of international partnerships in strengthening Bosnia's healthcare capacity, particularly within specialized fields that demand ongoing investment in technology and expertise.

The ministry noted that Bosnia and Turkey maintain a long-standing healthcare partnership anchored by a bilateral agreement. During the meeting, both ministers agreed to reactivate and intensify the work of a joint working group tasked with turning these initiatives into concrete projects.

The bilateral discussions took place on the sidelines of the 12th Turkish Medical World Congress, organized by the Turkish Ministry of Health and the Health Institutes of Turkey (TÜSEB) under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. The event gathered health ministers, scientists, and industry leaders globally to address resilient healthcare systems, biotechnology, and medical innovation.
