The Head of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH), Suad Arnautovic referred to the technical changes to the Election Law, in a statement to the media on Tuesday.

“The CEC BiH absolutely supports the adoption of technical amendments to the Election Law. We are active participants in the preparation of certain solutions. Twice we took the initiative to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly. We saw certain shortcomings and proposed technical changes to the Election Law,” Arnautovic said.

He said they are preparing for the local elections as if nothing will happen, but added that the CEC is under tremendous pressure.

“We are under tremendous pressure. It must be clear to everyone that we are the victims of a coordinated act and the undermining of the CEC's independence and impartiality. All those political qualifications must have an argument. We reject and do not pay attention to political parties. We do our job. The elections should not be jeopardized due to the failure of the budget,” said Arnautovic.

During the “Elections 2024: Challenges and resources for the media” conference, the Guidelines and Manual for reporting on the elections were presented, in Sarajevo. Guidelines for media reporting on elections and a handbook that compiles tips and resources were created based on experiences from newsrooms and after a number of workshops and discussions with editors and journalists in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
