Denis Becirovic, the Bosniak member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, said after the meeting with senior officials of EU and EU member states on Tuesday, that opening the accession talks between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union in March this year would be a “great reward for the citizens” but also a “punishment for anti-European politicians in our country.”
Three members of Bosnian Presidency welcomed today European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to discuss Bosnia's European path and the reforms that the country has to carry out towards that goal.
“I said that the last year we fully harmonised the foreign policy of BiH with the common foreign and security policy of the European Union. The opening of negotiations with BiH on March 21 and 22 this year would be a great reward for the citizens, but also a punishment for anti-European politicians in our country,” Becirovic said in a video message.
He also pointed out that there must be no detour from Bosnia's path to the full membership.
“European Union needs to know that this does not mean only help to BiH, this is the investment into a more stable BiH and the region. The investment into a stronger European Union,” he stressed, concluding that he is satisfied with the messages conveyed today.
