After more than ten years, Bosnia should finally get the women's senior handball team in 2021, the Board of Directors of the handball umbrella association in the country decided at the Sunday session in Bugojno.

Bosnia's Handball Federation said that the decision was made in November and that it was only confirmed Sunday. Great credit for starting the story about the re-formation of the women's national team goes to the director of Banja Luka handball team Borac – Darko Savic.

Savic was the main initiator of the formation of the women's senior handball national team of BiH.

“The Management Board session was held yesterday and they came to the conclusion that all activities should finally start. The Women's Handball Commission has proposed Mr Elmir Grabcanovic as director, he should submit his work plan within 7-10 days and try to find a common language with the Board of Directors, so we will start selecting the manager,” Savic told N1.

Savic also held a meeting with the legendary Svetlana Kitic on Friday – the best handball player in the world of all time.

“She made herself available for anything she could personally help with. My view is that she would be a great promoter for all national team activities, with her name and connections all over the world of handball. She was really delighted with the whole idea,” Savic pointed out.

Savic said he hoped Bosnia's women handball team would take part in the next qualifiers, adding that they would also need the help from the state. According to him, the team would need a strong sponsor to be able to bear the costs of the competition, adding that he hopes they would be able to come together at least three times this year.
