The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations (UN), Zlatko Lagumdzija, stated that he does not intend to "wallow in the mud" regarding the "shameful and organized" leak of information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina related to the planned commemoration of the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide in New York.
“Regarding the shameful and organized ‘leak’ of information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I have no intention of wallowing in the mud where the creators of such ‘policy’ evidently enjoy. They certainly know my views, and that’s why it doesn't occur to them to ‘leak’ those,” Lagumdzija wrote on Facebook.
Lagumdzija added, “It doesn’t take much intelligence to figure out who from the Ministry ‘leaked’ the internal memo to the public, in which, as Lagumdžija further states, there is an unscrupulous threat to a key professional person who led the expert work on the Resolution on the Srebrenica Genocide.”
“Instead of congratulating such a diplomat for their extremely professional and patriotic role in a project where they were one of the key individuals, they become the target of primitive attacks by newly-minted know-it-alls and actual ignoramuses. It’s insidious to attack my associates in this way without any arguments and to ‘skip’ the real target. Unfortunately, this fits into the parochial approach to dealing with the implementation of the Resolution, which is ongoing and about which I do not intend to speak publicly now,” emphasized Lagumdzija.
He noted that “at this moment, the most important thing is that tomorrow, for the first time in the right way, a top-notch exhibition on the Srebrenica genocide will be opened at the entrance to the UN General Assembly.”
“Although it will last for the next two weeks, it has already shown me that the opponents of the Resolution have not yet given up on preventing its proper implementation. Regarding the commemoration of the first international day of remembrance and commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide on July 11, 2024, I do not intend to account to anyone through the media in the coming days, but I am always available to anyone whose job it is. This cheap selective ‘leak’ of information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says everything about the primitive ‘sources’ who may have unconsciously found themselves in the same line with those who cannot get over the fact that, despite them, the Resolution has entered the phase of implementation,” stated Lagumdzija.
Let us recall that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina warned the Permanent Mission of our country to the UN regarding the organization of the Day of Remembrance for the Srebrenica Genocide.
Allegedly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina accused the Bosnian representation of “hiding information.”
