Sarajevo has once again ranked as the world's most polluted city, according to IQAir's air quality index. Data from the environmental organization Ekoakcija revealed an air quality index (AQI) of 265 for Sarajevo, categorized as "very unhealthy."

The situation was even more severe in Banja Luka, where the AQI reached 337 early Monday morning, marking the air quality as “hazardous.”

Air quality in other cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina also remains a concern. Zenica, Kakanj, Tesanj, and Visoko reported “unhealthy” air conditions, while Jajce's air quality was deemed “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

No data is currently available for the Tuzla Canton due to malfunctioning monitoring stations.

Health experts warn of significant risks to respiratory health for the general population under such conditions. Individuals with lung or heart conditions, pregnant women, children, and the elderly are advised to avoid outdoor activities entirely during these hazardous periods.

This recurring issue highlights the urgent need for effective measures to combat air pollution across the country.
