Bosnian Hobbit Village fully booked, plans to expand
The Hobbiton village in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Golisan hill near Kresevo, was built inspired by the global hit The Lord of the Rings, but with the aim of promoting rural tourism in BiH. The Milicevic sisters built the small village on their ancestral land, reviving the area and offering guests pure nature, peace, and complete privacy. One of them, Marija Milicevic Nujic, spoke to N1 about the idea behind creating this village, revealing future plans.

She pointed out that all accommodations in the village were fully booked during the May Day holidays and that the village will remain occupied in the coming period.
Speaking to N1, one of the village creators said she likes to say that Hobbiton is located in the heart of BiH.
“For years we didn’t have developed tourism, and since Kresevo has potential, the idea was to create something authentic and unseen in BiH — and that’s how the underground houses came to be,” she said.
Each of the five houses has its own name, and none were given randomly.
“Each house is named after a landmark in Kresevo. We have five houses — we designed four of them, and left the fifth to our parents. The names reflect their themes: Bedem (Fortress) is royal, named after Queen Katarina who spent time here; Citrin is named after the citrine crystal; Cador after the highest peak of Bitovnja; and Ober in a mining style. We also have Lipa, which reflects our village, the village of Lipa and its greenery, decorated in a natural and nostalgic style,” she explained.
They plan to build another house, after which they will move on to new projects.
She revealed to N1 how they plan to enrich their offer for guests:
“We’re planning to create an Enchanted Forest with a theme appealing to children, so they can spend more time in nature. We plan to get more animals, build a lake suitable for swimming, and install a mini-spa in each house,” she said, listing ideas that will be implemented in the near future.
Speaking about the character of the destination and the village itself, one of its creators said that from the start they decided it should be a closed-type village to ensure complete privacy for guests.
“In the village, only birds are chirping, and there’s no sense in being disturbed,” she added.
Reviews on booking platforms are full of praise, and as she emphasized, the greatest motivation are returning guests.
The most frequent guests, contrary to expectations, are not Lord of the Rings fans, but visitors “seeking rest and peace,” though fans are also common.
“We are more oriented toward rural life — that’s what we’ve focused on,” she added.
