Officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina have joined the leaders from all over the world who sent their condolences to the people of Turkey and Turkish officials over the deadly bombing in Istanbul on Sunday that left six dead and dozens of injured.
Sefik Dzaferovic, outgoing Chairman of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, sent a note to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, calling this a “heinous and cowardly crime against innocent people.”
Bosnia Presidency member Zeljko Komsic also addressed President Erdogan, expressing his condolences and hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
“The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will keep in thoughts the families of the killed and the friendly people of the Republic of Turkey,” he wrote.
Milorad Dodik, the new President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity, also strongly condemned the bombing attack.
Foreign Affairs Minister Bisera Turkovic, Deputy Speaker of Bosnia's House of Representatives Denis Zvizdic, newly elected member of Presidency Denis Becirovic as well as the SDA party leader Bakir Izetbegovic and the leader of the HDZ BiH party Dragan Covic also conveyed messages of support to the Turkish people and the country's officials.
At least six people died and dozens were injured in the deadly explosion that took place on Sunday in the busy pedestrian Istiklal street. President Erdogan said in the first address that it was a “vile attack” and that “the smell of terror” was in the air. A woman suspected of causing the blast has been arrested, according to the Interior Minister.
N1's Amir Krivosija reported live from Istanbul on Monday morning, saying that the Istiklal street reopened after the police conducted a thorough investigation.
According to available information that Bosnia's General Consulate in Istanbul has, no citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina were killed or injured in the attack.
Serbian Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed one citizen of Serbia was injured and has undergone a medical treatment.
