After rescuing a mother and her daughter from the debris, we were encouraged to go on with the operation, a member of Bosnian rescue team in Turkey, Senad Kovacevic told N1, days after arriving in the southern Hatay province, which was hit by a devastating earthquake a week ago.
Speaking to N1 on Monday morning, live from Hatay, Senad Kovacevic of the Federation entity's Mountain Rescue Service, said his team has been searching for the quake victims in the local industrial zone.
“It has not been covered by any search so far. We are the first ones in this area and we started a detailed search of all facilities here. It is very hard, we were a bit discouraged, we were lacking power but we ended the day yesterday by finding a girl and her mother, whom we rescued alive and that gave us power and moral to go on,” he stressed.

He also said that his own team but all other rescue teams are working in very difficult conditions.
“We see very bad things, but when something happens like last night, we get the strength back. I would like to say that Turkish forces put effort to provide all safety to all of us, they are with us and providing us support. All teams from all parts of the world work together without any bad connotations and we all help each other,” Kovacevic stressed.
According to official information, Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the countries who sent largest number of rescue teams to help Turkey in search operations in the areas hit by the quake.
Currently, the earthquake that hit parts of Turkey and Syria claimed over 34,000 lives and many are still missing.
However, owing to the efforts of rescue teams and volunteers, even a week after the quake people are saved from the ruins.
