Bosnian actor and writer Fedja Stukan, who was to participate in the Krokodil festival in Belgrade, was detained at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport on Sunday, Nova.rs reported.

Stukan told N1 that he was taken out of the line at passport control, and that something was found in his computer.

“I was told that there was a negative security risk assessment,” Stukan said, explaining that he would return to Sarajevo on the first flight on Monday morning.

His lawyer Sead Spahovic said the ban on his entry into Serbia appears to be a secret.

In mid-June last year Stukan was detained at the border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia for a few hours. This happened after he supported the opposition Serbia Against Violence protests and later attended a protest march in Belgrade.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic labelled him a “criminal” at the time, and the daily Politika called him a “Muslim extremist.”

Stukan told N1 in January this year that he was never officially notified of the ban on entry into Serbia.

“Later on I learnt from Vucic’s office that the decision to ban my entry would be revoked only if the Serbian Parliament voted against it. Even if there is a change of government I know that I won’t be on the agenda, so this is probably a lifelong measure,” Stukan said at that time.
