BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic met with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, on Monday where he noted that his first visit abroad has a symbolic and strategic significance, with the message that Bosnia and Herzegovina will certainly continue and intensify its path towards full NATO membership.
On that occasion, he expressed his determination to do everything in accordance with his constitutional powers, adopted laws, and strategic decisions, which were adopted with the full consensus of all political actors, for BiH to become a NATO member as soon as possible.
During the meeting, BiH Presidency member Becirovic proposed a new approach to the intensification of BiH’s NATO integration through a joint road map, according to which Bosnia could be invited for NATO membership as soon as possible. A completely new geopolitical situation requires both NATO and Bosnia to be faster, more efficient and more concrete because the change of the European security architecture cannot tolerate any delay. The two agreed that the upcoming NATO summit in Lithuania in June will be an opportunity to highlight the importance of dynamizing Bosnia’s path to NATO.
Becirovic once again condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine and emphasized the importance of showing solidarity with the righteous struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom.
Becirovic expressed his gratitude to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for the support and efforts he provides to BiH together with the allies. During his visit to the NATO headquarters, the BiH Presidency member invited Stoltenberg to visit Bosnia as soon as possible.
