The Government of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity decided on Thursday to abolish the passenger tax, which was introduced in 2005 to support the development of air traffic in FBiH.

The FBiH House of Representatives asked the FBiH Government to remove the provision in the Decision on Passenger Tax which meant that every departing passenger had to pay a fee of 20 Bosnian Marks.

The Sarajevo International Airport said that this tax represented the “main obstacle to the further growth of air traffic” in BiH and was only being implemented at that airport.

"We believe that this news will make our passengers happy and that this move will significantly affect the arrival of new airlines as well as the expansion of the network of destinations from Sarajevo to the rest of the world," said Sarajevo Airport.
