Bosnia’s state Prosecution asked to join the investigation into Muamer Zukorlic’s death, his son Usame Zukorlic told Prva TV on Sunday.
“The State Prosecutor's Office of BiH has initiated the procedure to get involved in the investigation process, because Mufti Zukorlic was also a citizen of that country, and we also requested via our criminal complaint that an international team of experts be formed which would perform the exhumation and autopsy si that the investigation could be conducted in the best possible way because we don’t want to leave a trace of doubt in the final results of the investigation,” said Usame Zukorlic.
The family filed a criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator with the Republic Prosecutor's Office of Serbia, and the Higher Prosecutor's Office in Novi Pazar took over the jurisdiction.
As the applicant, Usame Zukorlic has already given a statement, and a decision on urgent exhumation was made immediately.
“We asked that the exhumation, which was supposed to take place tomorrow (Monday), be postponed because the family needs time to prepare for it mentally,” he pointed out.
Several days ago, Usame Zukorlic filed a criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator with the Republic Public Prosecutor's Office of Serbia and submitted laboratory findings that he believes indicate that his father Muamer Zukorlic did not die a natural death.
He previously said at the press conference that the family suspects that the former leader of the Party of Justice and Reconciliation (SPP) was poisoned and that this was the reason for his death a little over five months ago.
Mufti Zukorlic passed away suddenly on November 6 last year, and the media reported that the cause was a heart attack.
