The Chairman of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, Zoran Tegeltija, stated on Tuesday that BiH has about 930,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines at this moment, while some two million are still expected to arrive in the country through COVAX and the EU’s mechanism.

Procurement activities for Pfizer vaccines are underway, carried out by representatives of the competent health institutions of Bosnia’s two semi-autonomous entities and the Brcko District and the Ministry of Civil Affairs, based on the expressed needs in the amount of 1,220,000 doses.

“Given that vaccines arrive in BiH continuously, we appeal to all institutions dealing with immunization to provide citizens with more accessible vaccination points and openly launch a campaign of mass immunization of the population to make movement safer and to be more ready for the new school year,” Tegeltija stressed.

Although the situation has improved significantly, the danger of the pandemic is still there and measures to prevent the spread of the virus must still be respected, he said.

“Therefore, we once again appeal to all citizens to adhere to the prescribed epidemiological measures, and to approach vaccination, as the main public health tool in the fight against Covid,” he said.
