The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed an indictment in the case of Dragan Spasojevic and others. The indictment charges Dragan Spasojevic, Vinko Radovic, and Dragomir Vasic with committing crimes against humanity as described in the indictment.
The accused are charged with actions that took place from May 30, 1992, to June 25, 1992, in the municipality of Zvornik during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and during the armed conflict between the Army of the Republika Srpska (VRS) and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) in the Zvornik area. This period coincided with a widespread and systematic attack by military, paramilitary, and police forces of the so-called Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, later Republika Srpska, against the Muslim civilian population of the Zvornik municipality. This attack lasted from April 8, 1992, at least until the end of August 1992. The accused were aware of both the armed conflict and the widespread and systematic attack and acted as part of this attack, contrary to international humanitarian law.
The indictment further states that the accused knowingly and willingly aided in the forcible displacement of approximately 4,000 Muslim civilians from the villages of Djulici, Klisa, and surrounding areas. Some of the accused also knowingly and willingly helped in the unlawful detention of around 600 Muslim civilian men from the same area. During their separation, some detainees were cursed at and beaten with fists, feet, rifle butts, and other suitable objects. They were also demanded to surrender all their money, gold, valuables, and documents. Some unidentified Serbian soldiers killed certain Muslim civilians during the separation process.
