Inspectors from the Foreigners Affairs Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, have intensified efforts to combat illegal accommodations. In a recent operation in the Vratnik neighbourhood of Stari Grad municipality, they uncovered a residential property being used unlawfully to house foreign nationals.
During the inspection, ten Turkish citizens were found residing at the property without proper authorization. Legal actions were taken against all individuals involved. Two Turkish nationals, believed to be organizers of the illegal accommodation and stay, were detained and transferred to the Immigration Center in East Sarajevo. An expulsion order was also issued for them.
The Foreigners Affairs Service has stated they will pursue all legal measures against the property owner. Additionally, they reaffirmed their commitment to preventing the illegal use and rental of residential properties for migrant accommodation across Sarajevo, aiming to enhance the safety of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s citizens.
Authorities urge citizens to report any illegal or unregistered properties being used to house foreign nationals to the relevant field offices of the Foreigners Affairs Service.
