Croatian Canadair aircrafts to join firefighting efforts on Mount Cvrsnica

Due to the still-active and extremely challenging fire in the Blidinje area, the director of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Civil Protection and Firefighting Administration once again requested assistance from Croatia. The request was approved, and Croatian Canadair aircrafts are expected to arrive at the fire site after 11 a.m.

The statement added that the fight against the wildfire continues and that aerial assistance is once again arriving where it is most needed.

The fire on Mount Cvrsnica has been active for eleven days. In addition to fighting the blaze in this highly inaccessible terrain, firefighters have so far laid around two kilometers of high-pressure hoses.

The goal is to bring water to an elevation of 1,800 meters, to the area where a firebreak is being prepared between Mandina Plana and OrlovaCa.

This would help prevent the fire from spreading further toward Masna Luka and the southwestern slopes of the Cvrsnica massif.
