Awaiting the verdict against Franko Simatovic and Jovica Stanisic, and following the final verdict against Ratko Mladic for cromes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Venezuelan ambassador to the UN Diego Arria recalled for N1 why he spoke in 1993 about the "creeping genocide" in BiH, where do problems with the international community and justice that aggravate the situation lie and how to reach the full truth about the events from the 1990s.
Speaking about the final decision for Ratko Mladic, Arria said he always thought that the international court limited the crime of genocide only to Srebrenica only and that he believed the genocide was much greater and that it did not happen only in BiH but in other places.
He noted that the word genocide is not a word used freely. In fact, it has not been mentioned in the Security Council before for one specific reason, he said, and that is because according to the agreement on genocide, the great powers that are aware that this is happening have an obligation to intervene. And because no one wanted to intervene in BiH, that is why no one talked about it, Arria told N1.
To hear the Ambassador speak of this and other topics regarding the reconciliation in the region and human rights in the world in regard to world powers such as the US, Russia and China, watch the video above.
