The President of Republika Srpska and leader of SNSD, Milorad Dodik, addressed his coalition partners at the state level—Troika and HDZ BiH—on the social network X. He used the opportunity to emphasize that he "does not violate the Constitution" and once again called out High Representative Christian Schmidt, this time without insults.
“At the meetings in Banja Luka and East Sarajevo, we demonstrated that we are capable of reaching agreements on many issues when we think and decide for ourselves, respecting the Constitution and jurisdictions, and taking into account the interests of all three peoples,” Dodik said.
He added, “After each of our agreements, Schmidt appears and destroys everything. And once again, silence from the Federation partners. If we remain silent on the violations of the Constitution and the Dayton Agreement by an unauthorized individual—a foreigner—then we become accomplices. I will not be an accomplice.”
Dodik also claimed that he has always respected the Constitution. “I have never violated the Constitution, and I am the only person in history to be prosecuted for respecting and acting according to the Constitution,” he stated.
He called on Bosniak politicians to abandon their current approach. “It is time for Bosniak politicians to abandon the mentality of listening to and serving others instead of their own people. Anything done outside of institutions is against the people's interests,” Dodik remarked.
He also criticized the symbolism of the Presidency's current location. “The fact that the highest authority at the state level—the Presidency—sits in a building constructed by an occupier, which is unique in the world, does not mean we are still under occupation,” Dodik said.
Dodik urged his coalition partners to clarify who holds the power in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “The time has come for all partners to clearly state who is in power in BiH. Is it us, or is it Schmidt? If it is us, as the legitimately elected representatives of the people, then everyone must clearly and unequivocally reject all kinds of impositions. No one can afford to remain silent anymore,” Dodik insisted.
He concluded by questioning the purpose of the current political process. “If it is Schmidt, then what is our role, what is the purpose of our meetings, our agreements? Let Schmidt pass all the laws, make all the decisions, negotiate with the EU. This is not some whim of Republika Srpska; this is a defense of elementary dignity,” Dodik wrote.
The meeting of leaders in East Sarajevo took place on November 20. The leader of SDP, Nermin Niksic, stated that the meeting was productive and that all open issues regarding the laws on border control and personal data protection were agreed upon. Discussions were also held on the Growth Plan.
