Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia and Herzegovina's tripartite Presidency, assessed as “disgraceful” the speech that Bosnian ambassador to UN Sven Alkalaj gave on Tuesday at the UN Security Council session, adding that he had no approval of the collective head of the state i.e. the Presidency for that.
“The presentation of so-called ambassador in New York who ignored the stand and the rulebook of the Presidency, according to which no representative of BiH can present (a statement) if its text got no consent of all three members of that highest body, is a mirror of the ruin that cannot be fixed,” Dodik said on Wednesday, a day after the UN SC session.
On the day when The Hague-based UN court sentenced to life in prison Bosnian Serb wartime military leader Ratko Mladic, the ambassador spoke at the UN SC session and thanked the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals on a “well done job” but he also criticised the authorities of neighbouring Serbia for protecting convicted war criminal Novak Djukic for the murder of dozens of young people in the Bosnian city of Tuzla during the 1992-95 war.
Djukic's escape to Serbia after he was convicted damaged the relations between the two countries, the ambassador stressed.
Criticising the ambassador's statement before the UN, for which he got the approval of Zeljko Komsic, the Croat member of BiH Presidency, Dodik said this will be a turning point and that no Bosnian Serb representative abroad “until further notice has an obligation to obey the orders and instruction of their chiefs who represent other peoples, especially not the instructions of the Foreign Affairs Ministry with Bisera Turkovic (Bosniak) at the helm.”
He went on accusing the ambassador, calling him “a man of the scandal” and “a rouge” and adding that he is “implementing all the possible and impossible orders, even those that go in favour of individuals but that damage the image of BiH, to which they swear only when they have something bad to say about the Serbs.”
