As part of the recapitalisation of the Kakanj Coal Mine (RMU Kakanj), five new dump trucks featuring payload capacities between 90 and 100 tonnes have been acquired for a total of 10.75 million Bosnian marks (approx. €5.50 million), continuing ongoing investment across coal mines within the Elektroprivreda BiH Group.

The newly procured machinery has been commissioned at the Vrtliste open-pit mine, marking one of Elektroprivreda BiH’s major capital investments aimed at expanding operational capacity at RMU Kakanj.

Integrating these dump trucks will allow for accelerated overburden removal and extraction, establishing the necessary conditions to access fresh coal reserves and stabilise output. The investment is anticipated to deliver more reliable coal production and supply lines to the Kakanj Thermal Power Plant, enhancing operational safety across production facilities and supporting broader power grid stability.

Under the terms of the investment, RMU Kakanj is obligated to maintain proper usage, routine maintenance, and equipment protection standards to meet output targets and safeguard asset value over the long term.

To date, Elektroprivreda BiH has directed more than 378 million marks (approx €193.27 million) into coal mines via recapitalisation, underpinning its ongoing programme to modernise mining operations, boost production capacity, and secure dependable electricity generation.
