The announcement was made on X by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

“Estonia will not tolerate those who undermine sovereignty and incite separatism. We are imposing sanctions on Irina Vlah and Milorad Dodik. Their activities violate the norms of international law and threaten peace and security”, Tsahkna stated.

In addition to Milorad Dodik, Estonia has also imposed sanctions on Irina Vlah, the former governor of Gagauzia, an autonomous region in Moldova.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry clarified that the new sanctions allow for the enforcement of entry bans on individuals for whom there is evidence of participation in, or active support for, activities abroad that violate international law and principles.

The sanctions were adopted on Thursday, September 25, in Estonia. Under this decision, the country can take steps on the international stage to help preserve or restore peace, international security, and the rule of international law.

Estonia is the latest country to impose sanctions on Dodik. Slovenia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Lithuania, and Poland had already taken this step.
