Given the inflammatory rhetoric heard in Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent days, ahead of the verdict that will be handed down against RS entity President Milorad Dodik, and due to citizens' concerns over the security situation, EUFOR told N1 that they are closely monitoring the situation in the country and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the security and stability of BiH.
“EUFOR operates strictly within its mandate, established by the United Nations Security Council, and fully respects the legal framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its institutions,” EUFOR told N1.
The response also confirms the EU military mission’s commitment to the country’s security.
“We continue to closely monitor the situation throughout the country and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in ensuring a safe and stable environment for all its citizens,” the statement to N1 reads.
Meanwhile, BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic met on Friday with the newly appointed commander of the European Forces (EUFOR) in BiH, Major General Florin-Marian Barbu.
Major General Barbu stated that EUFOR, in accordance with its mandate, will continue to provide full support for peace, stability, and security throughout the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said that one of EUFOR’s goals is to ensure a peaceful and stable Bosnia and Herzegovina.
