FBiH exports surge in June as trade deficit widens to half a billion euros

According to data from the FBiH Bureau of Statistics, exports increased by 8.4 percent compared with May, while imports were up 2.2 percent. The foreign trade deficit for the entity in June amounted to approximately 850.9 million marks (approx. €434.55 million), with exports covering 56.9 percent of imports.

In the first six months of this year, exports from the Federation totalled 6.027 billion Bosnian marks (approx. €3.08 billion), representing an increase of 7.6 percent compared with the same period in 2025. Imports between January and June reached 11.022 billion marks (approx. €5.63 billion), up 6.6 percent year-on-year. The foreign trade deficit in the first half of the year stood at nearly 4.995 billion marks (approx. €2.55 billion), while the export-to-import coverage ratio was 54.7 percent.

Croatia remained the largest export market for the Federation in June, with shipments valued at nearly 259 million marks (approx. €132.43 million), accounting for 23.1 percent of total exports. This was followed by Germany with 184.6 million Bosnian marks (approx. €94.38 million), Austria with 116.9 million marks (approx. €59.77 million), Slovenia with 79.4 million marks (approx. €40.60 million) and Italy with 79.1 million marks (approx. €40.44 million).

The largest share of imports came from Italy, amounting to 259.4 million marks (approx. €132.63 million), or 13.1 percent of total imports. Germany followed closely with 220.2 million marks (approx. €112.59 million), China with 191.8 million Bosnian marks (approx. €98.06 million), Croatia with 180.4 million marks (approx. €92.23 million) and Turkey with 140.9 million marks (approx. €72.04 million).

By product category, the largest share of exports in June consisted of manufactured goods classified chiefly by material, valued at 311.1 million marks (approx. €159.06 million), followed by machinery and transport equipment, with exports amounting to 285.2 million marks (approx. €145.82 million). Imports were also dominated by manufactured goods classified chiefly by material, worth 545.3 million marks (approx. €278.81 million), followed by machinery and transport equipment, valued at 450.3 million marks (approx. €230.23 million).
