FBiH locks prices on 100 essential goods until end of 2026

According to the ministry, the updated decision leaves the existing list of items unchanged, ensuring that the 100 basic food and everyday products already covered remain subject to controlled pricing.

The decision to prolong the measure stems from a requirement to maintain price stability across essential household goods and protect consumer purchasing power amidst ongoing price pressures.

FBiH Minister of Trade Amir Hasicevic confirmed that the ministry will keep a close watch on market trends and deploy available mechanisms to alleviate the strain of rising costs on domestic budgets.

“We are extending the ‘locked prices’ initiative until the end of the year to provide continuity and a degree of predictability for citizens regarding the items they purchase daily. The list of 100 products remains identical. We shall continue to monitor market dynamics and intervene where necessary, balancing consumer interests with broader market stability,” Minister Hasicevic stated.

The price locking mechanism serves as a primary tool for the FBiH Ministry of Trade to cushion the impact of higher living costs, ensuring the public retains access to key consumer staples at fixed, transparent prices.

Extending the controls through to 31 December ensures uninterrupted protection across the final quarter of the year, spanning the period of elevated household spending ahead of the New Year period.
