The questioning is part of the investigation known as the "Munjic and Others" case, with prosecutors expected to decide whether to bring charges following the hearing.
POSKOK told N1 that Niksic's questioning was part of routine investigative activities.
The case involves several suspects, including Vahidin Munjic, the former acting director of the Federation Police Administration (FUP); FUP official Muhamed Ohranovic; Arijana Huseinovic-Ajanovic, head of the Federation Prime Minister's Office; and Ervin Musinovic, director of the Police Academy.
The suspects were previously subjected to restrictive measures prohibiting contact with several individuals, including Niksic, Federation Interior Minister Ramo Isak and other officials.
Allegations of influence peddling and abuse of office
The investigation, widely known in Bosnia as the "Spengavanje" affair, centres on allegations that senior officials abused their positions and traded influence over an extended period.
According to prosecutors, Munjic allegedly photographed and forwarded a confidential cantonal prosecution document concerning checks involving Prime Minister Niksic, despite knowing that doing so could jeopardise the investigation.
Investigators have also examined communications conducted through the Viber and Signal messaging applications, which allegedly reveal arrangements concerning recruitment within the Federation Police Administration.
These include claims that examination questions were shared with prospective candidates and that officials sought to influence appointments.
The investigation also references alleged efforts to secure employment for a relative of Munjic at the state-owned postal operator BH Posta, reportedly with the involvement of Huseinovic-Ajanovic.
Prosecutors believe the suspected activities formed part of a broader pattern of abuse of public office aimed at advancing personal and political interests, undermining public confidence in institutions and the justice system.
The allegations have not been established in court, and the questioning of Niksic does not in itself establish criminal responsibility.
A prosecutorial decision on possible charges is now awaited.
