Forest fire out of control in Konjic area
A forest fire is currently active in the Konjic area and is spreading, prompting authorities to call in an Air Tractor firefighting aircraft and request the deployment of a helicopter from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Operational Center of the Civil Protection Administration of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton reported.
The fire broke out on Thursday at 11:49 am in the Ravne (Badnje) area below Celinska Mountain, between the settlements of Otelezani, Gorani, Celina and Buscak, at an altitude of around 1,000 meters.
Firefighting teams from Konjic and Neretvica responded immediately after receiving the report, but ground operations are not possible due to the extremely inaccessible and steep terrain.
Due to the critical situation, urgent aerial assistance was requested. An Air Tractor firefighting aircraft made three passes yesterday to slow the spread of the fire, while an official request was also submitted for the deployment of an Armed Forces of BiH helicopter.
The fire remains active.
Over the past 24 hours, firefighters also responded to several other incidents in towns across Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
