The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's (FBiH) fuel supply will remain secure despite US sanctions targeting the NIS refinery in Pancevo, Serbia, an official has confirmed.

Merima Maslo, an adviser to the FBiH Minister of Trade, sought to reassure the public following reports that the Serbian refinery had exhausted its crude oil reserves.

Maslo underlined that, while Bosnia as a whole imports around 20 percent of its total petroleum products from Serbia, exclusively via the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, the FBiH relies primarily on supplies routed through Croatia. These supply chains, including refineries and distribution networks, are not subject to the US sanctions.

"This ensures market stability and continuity of supply," Maslo told FENA news agency. "The sanctions against NIS will not significantly impact the fuel market in BiH, nor the supply to citizens and the economy."

She further noted that the FBiH Ministry of Trade consistently monitors developments in both the domestic and regional energy markets. Working alongside relevant institutions, the ministry is taking all necessary steps to guarantee a reliable and stable supply.

The minister’s adviser concluded: "At this moment, there is no cause for concern, nor do we anticipate disruptions in the availability or supply of fuel within the Federation of BiH."
