International community’s High Representative (HR) Christian Schmidt paid an official visit to Zagreb today where he met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, whom he stressed the need to strengthen the functionality of BiH institutions through the intensified engagement of all domestic stakeholders.
HR Schmidt and PM Plenkovic exchanged views on the current political trends and developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, with a focus on Euro-Atlantic integration. They also discussed the electoral reform process in BiH.
During the meeting, the High Representative emphasized the need to strengthen the functionality of BiH institutions through the intensified engagement of all domestic stakeholders, with support from the international community.
Functionality, he underscored, is a requisite factor for the country to achieve graduation from international supervision and progress on EU integration.
The High Representative thanked Prime Minister Plenkovic for Croatia’s advocacy and support for the EU accession aspirations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries in the region.
