Hungary's Orban in Bosnia this week

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban is set to pay an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 4, Radio Free Europe reported citing the Council of Ministers of BiH as a source. Pročitaj više

Orban will be welcomed by Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic at the Sarajevo International Airport.

He is also scheduled to meet with his Bosnian counterpart, Chairwoman of BiH Council of Ministers Borjana Kristo.

Previously, the visit was announced by President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, who said Orban would visit this part of the contry and not mentioning this was a visit to BiH.

Radio Free Europe unofficially learns that after the meetings in Sarajevo, Orban will depart for Banja Luka, administrative centre of Republika Srpska entity.

According to RFE, the Hungarian populist official is one of key allies of the pro-Russian Serb leader.

Last time Orban paid a visit to Bosnia in June 2023, when he said that he is against the sanctions of European Union, not specifying what sanctions he refers to. He is one of the rare politicians of the EU and NATO, who is meeting Dodik and has on several occasions blocked the attempts of the European Union to impose sanctions on Dodik.

During his last visit to Sarajevo, Hungary's PM met with the Council of Ministers, the Presidency members and the delegation of the Parliament of BiH, as well as the Federation entity's Government delegation. He then departed for Banja Luka, where he talked to Republika Srpska entity officials.
