Indirect tax revenue in Bosnia reaches €2.4 billion in first five months of 2025

Between January and May 2025, the ITA refunded 921 million marks (around €470 million) in VAT to taxpayers entitled to reimbursement under the law.

Net revenue collected and distributed to government beneficiaries – including state institutions, the entities, and the Brcko District – amounted to 3.793 billion marks (some €1.93 billion), up 4.57% compared to the same period last year.

In May 2025 alone, the ITA collected 965 million marks (around €492 million) in indirect taxes, which is 70 million marks (approx. €36 million) or 7.79% more than in May 2024.

Of the total collected in the first five months of 2025, 408 million marks (some €208 million) were allocated for financing state-level institutions. The rest was distributed to the entities and Brčko District: the Federation of BiH received 2.073 billion marks (around €1.06 billion), Republika Srpska received 1.161 billion (some €592 million), and Brcko District was allocated 117 million marks (approx. €60 million) from the single account.

From the special road toll of 0.25 KM (around €0.13) earmarked for highway construction and the development and repair of other roads, the Federation of BiH received an additional 94 million marks (nearly €48 million), Republika Srpska 62 million (some €32 million), and the Brcko District 3 million (some €1.5 million). The remainder of the funds remains in the special toll account as reserves.
